Gas & Noxious Odours
Should you smell an unusual odor or gas / ammonia fumes, please contact the FMHelpdesk immediately at Maintenance@dart.ky Do not attempt to locate the source of the odor. The building Engineer will investigate and contact the fire department if necessary.
Take the following actions:
- Do not attempt to locate the source of the odour. The building engineer will investigate and contact the Fire Department if necessary.
- Do not switch on electrical equipment or light switches.
- Do not strike a match.
- Evacuate the immediate area using the stairwells. Natural gas odour can be recognised by a rotten egg or dead fish smell. Ammonia leaks have a tendency to cause watery eyes and a burning sensation in the sinuses. Freon leaks usually are odourless, however, they can cause nausea, vomiting and headaches.
